The brake fluid should be replaced every 2 years. This is because during braking, the brakes and the fluid heat up. As it cools down, vapor droplets form on the reservoir cap, much like the steam from a pot on the stove.
These droplets can find their way into the brake fluid, resulting in several unfavorable consequences. It significantly reduces the brake fluid’s boiling point.
During extended braking, it can often lead to boiling, introducing air into the brake system. As a result, the brake pedal becomes spongy, and your brakes may fail, prolonging your braking distance.
The moisture in the system can also lead to corrosion and oxidation of brake components. Subsequent repairs are significantly more costly than a routine fluid replacement.
