TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT
TIMING BELT AND WATER PUMP REPLACEMENT
To ensure safety and peace of mind while traveling in your car, it is recommended to replace the timing belt every 4 years or 50,000 km.
The timing belt is always replaced as a complete set with the rollers, tensioner, and the water pump if it is driven by the timing belt, as whether you break the belt or damage the water pump or roller, the damage and the end result to the engine are one and the same.
Choose a service center that has the technical literature for your model. More and more modern engines require timing to be done with specialized tools, such as clamps and pins, and if the belt is not timed properly, other problems may arise.
If the manufacturer specifies a timing belt check at a certain mileage, be cautious and make sure not to skip this check at the service center. It is usually free of charge.
If your car doesn’t start, it’s better to seek help from a specialist or an auto service. Very often, when trying to start the engine by pushing or pulling, the timing belt may jump, causing damage to the engine for which neither the manufacturer nor the auto service can honor the warranty.
